    We always here about stuides asking students to identify countries, etc., to show how poor the education system is today. I do not remember hearing about similar tests in the 60s and 70s so I do not know how students in those years would have compared. Maybe there were similar tests and students did well so it was not newsworthy or maybe there weren't similar stuides. I hope all of the above examples are the exception to the rule or they would not have been newsworthy.
