JulietoMy father TSgt. Andrew J. Glynn was stoieantd at Ramey AFB a total of 3 times. COMM SQAD. My sisters and I grew up on the island. Ramey was our home. Anyone remember Hook Rd elementary school. Or the school on E street. Sneaking off to eat at the snack shack or the liner diner during school lunch. My dad has a part time job at the Warner theater on base. The Roxy was across the parking lot and down the street from the original Ramey HS. There was a hobby shop and I remember taking a field trip to a bakery on base. Ramey was an independent city in a way. had their own phone system, water supply, airport, produced their own electricity, commisary, BX, full hospital, entertainment, beaches, school system etc. There was no need to leave if you did not want to. Most bases are dependent to the city they are located in. beautiful base. What memories. the siren going off every day at noon. Mr Cherry's history class. Milt Weiss PE. Mr. Cabret the music teacher. Wilderness beach , The Ponderosa, Mr. Sweets bakery outside of gate 5, the pizza parlor on base. Back in the day the Ramey Bombers would play Roosevelt Roads, Ft Allen, Ft Buchanan. Truly a unique experience and a privilege to have been part of it.Old friends I lost touch with Ken Marino, Charles Patterson, Blair Vakili, Mike Torres, Limon Good.Best Wishes,John GlynnAlbuquerque, NM
